WALKER CANYON SUPERBLOOM 2017 VERTICAL by Lynn Bauer - California poppies are exploding across the hillsides in Southern California, catching the attention of the media across the country. Our drought has made the headlines for years, and abundant rains this year have caused the wildflowers to go wild! My husband and I drove a long way to see this incredible area...and, thanks to the internet and media reports, we were not the only ones! People had flocked to this sight and were traipsing through the flowers with their selfie-sticks. These areas are so incredibly special that I hate to see them get trampled on...and, I work hard to find the shots to be able to preserve the memory of what was an extraordinary bloom.

I have spent most of my life living in Southern California where I have developed an appreciation for all the beauty provided by nature. I've been blessed to be able to visit gorgeous mountains, like the High Sierra, which is home to some of the most majestic sights on earth, such as Yosemite National Park, as well as making quick trips to the beaches of the Pacific Coast, if I want to spend an evening shooting a sunset. One of my favorite past times has been to spend the spring season hunting down amazing wildflower blooms...including two years of "Superbloom" seasons in 2017 and 2019.
