Description
START OF THE SPRING THAW by Lynn Bauer - While visiting the town of Bend, Oregon, we decided to hike to a local waterfall we had read about...Tumalo Falls. Unfortunately for us, the road was closed due to snow. But, on the other hand, we were treated to this gorgeous view along Tumalo Creek! And, we were able to take a nice walk along the closed road to enjoy even more of the snow. This may not be a big deal to many people who see snow on a regular basis...but, for this native Southern Californian, it was a joy to experience this taste of winter wonderland! Taken the first week of spring, it was a great blending of the seasons to see flowing water in the river with snow on the banks, as well as parting clouds with beautiful blue skies emerging from behind!
Tumalo Creek is a tributary off of the Deschutes River and is part of the Deschutes National Forest.
