COLORS OF THE SEASON AT ROCK CREEK LAKE by Lynn Bauer - Fall colors blaze around Rock Creek Lake in the High Sierra mountains of California. The aspen trees turn quickly during the autumn months, leaving behind their green shades of summer. Most of the trees turn to shimmering shades of yellow and gold. But, at times, the circumstances line up right to see more of the oranges and reds...as was the case here. This image was taken at the peak of fall color, as a storm came in and blew many of these leaves off the branches just one day after we were there. This is a scene that literally took my breath away as we rounded the corner and it opened up before us! For me, this is a little view into what heaven must be like!! Gorgeous granite mountains, blue skies with wonderful white clouds, a deep blue alpine lake surrounded by a glorious riot of intense colors...wow...what a treat!!!

I have spent most of my life living in Southern California where I have developed an appreciation for all the beauty provided by nature. I've been blessed to be able to visit gorgeous mountains, like the High Sierra, which is home to some of the most majestic sights on earth, such as Yosemite National Park, as well as making quick trips to the beaches of the Pacific Coast, if I want to spend an evening shooting a sunset.
